How to Protect Your Eyesight?

As we all know that the eyes are very important for us and it is essential for us too.So It is important for everyone to keep good eyesight. But do you know how to protect your eyesight?

First, don't keep your eyes work for a long time. You'd better have a rest by looking in the long distance after you have studied an hour or so.

Secondly, pay attention to the following: Don't read in the sun or in a poor light; don't read in bed or in a moving bus. And when you read you should keep the book away from your eyes for about a foot.

And thirdly, do eye-exercises every day. It will also help you keep good eyesight.

If you obey the rules above, I think, you may prevent your eyesight from becoming short-sighted.

  Should The Park Charge?

  Dear Editor,

I'm writing to tell you about the discussion we've had about whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks.

Opinions are pided on the question. 60% of the students are against the idea of entrance fees. They believe a public park should be free of charge. People need a place where they can rest and enjoy themselves. Charging entrance fees will no doubt keep some people away. What is more, it will become necessary to build gates and walls, which will do harm to the appearance of a city.

On the other hand, 40% think that fees should be charged because you need money to pay gardeners and other workers, and to buy plants and young trees. They suggest, however, fees should be charged low.

  Yours truly,

  Li Hua

Students' mental health has been playing an increasingly important role in our day-to-day life. Indeed, it is widely accepted that it has gained growing popularity among persons in all walks of life. There is a general discussion today about the issue of disorder in brains.

Obviously, it is necessary that effective actions should be taken to prevent problems. Authorities in universities play a critical role in the situation. To begin with, schools, such as colleges or universities, can provide chances for the young men to ease their attention. What's more, some are physically strong, but psychological problems are able to bring potential threats. Teachers may have a chance to find them in advance.

  Wealth and Happiness

Some people think wealth can bring happiness to them. It is true that most of them try to acquire wealth by means of honest labor. They work hard and overcome many difficulties. After doing this, they feel very happy and pleased. Even their spending money is a kind of happiness。

But some people believe wealth can’t bring them happiness. For example, when one gets a fortune, the family members will come from different parts of the country and try to share the wealth with him. And afterwards, they will quarrel with one another, trying to share more. And sometimes even appear bloody fight and killing. What a terrible result!

In my opinion, I think there is no doubt that wealth brings happiness, especially in the modern society. If you have money you can lead a comfortable and colorful life. But we should take a proper attitude towards wealth. Remember: money is not everything。

  Disagreement 分歧

When we retrospect how our knowledge and thoughts have come into being, we will easily find that, besides those we have learned from schools, we are always imitating and learning from other’s, who are mainly parents, friends and those we respect rather than those we hate, disgust or comtempt. It’s always easy for us to learn much more from those whose views we share than from those whose views contradict ours. Firstly, disagreement always arouses stress and enimity. When two persons or two groups cannot achieve agreement on some subject, what succeeds is always a hot dispute. The two parts stick to their own point of view and trying vainly to convince the other that they are totally wrong. However, the two parts are always putting to much emphasis on defeat the other, while having no time or no will to staidly analysis the other’s point of view and to learn from it. On the other hand, when we share views with someone, we are always satisfied and enlightened. So we are ready to listen to others carefully. When we find our views have some subtle differences compared with others, we are likely to think over it: Am I right? Why there are differences? How did the other’s view come into being? Have I omitted something important? Or am I not open-minded enough to accept new ideas? Such kind of comparison and introspect help us to correct our thoughts and thus help us in learning to be more mature and wise. However, if we only learn from those whose views are shared by us, we are in dangere that our minds and thoughts will be narrower and narrower, since we never accept views deviated from ours. Such kind of self-confident tampers our progress in studying rather than help us. People are always thinking themselves are the most correct while others are more or less wrong if the views are not congruent. But if we can rationally analysis those views which are far away from ours, we have the chance to explore a totally new world filled with inspiring thoughts. What is important is not whether those different views are right or wrong; it is crucial how others achieve such kind of views. By meditating on these, we may open new ways to our minds and thus become more open-minded and fair. In sum, it’s from those who we share views with that we are improved, while from those who we contradict views with that we get chances to avoid a dead-end or narrower pathes of thoughts.
